Uttarakhand Foundation Day
Uttarakhand is celebrating its 21st Foundation Day today i.e on 9th November 2020. It became a state after separation from Uttar Pradesh. Uttarakhand Day is also referred to as Uttarakhand Divas. it was formed on 9th November 2000 by joining several districts from the North Western part of Uttar Pradesh and a portion of the Himalayan mountain range . In 2007 the name of the state was altered from Uttaranchal to Uttarakhand . The meaning of Uttarakhand has been extracted from the Sanskrit dialect which means Northern City. Uttarakhand is rich in natural resources including glaciers, rivers ,dense forests and snow clad mountain peaks .The four most sacred and revered Hindu temples of Badrinath, Kedarnath ,Gangotri and Yamunotri also known as Char Dham are situated in Uttarakhand and the state is known as the land of Gods. The capital of the state is Dehradun and the High court is situated in Nainital. The bordering states of Uttarakhand are Nepal ,Himachal Pradesh ,Haryana and Uttar Pradesh .Uttarakhand ‘s climate is temperate which is marked by seasonal variation in temperature. It is also affected by tropical monsoon , The coldest month is January and July is the hottest month in the North. Various programs would be held in police line Dehradun today on this occassion following the social distancing norms.
